The Batchelor: Aaron and Helene Tell All
Published: February 24, 2003
HAPPILY EVER AFTER?
After way too much drama, Ryan was finally chosen as Trista’s prince and immediately proposed on Wednesday’s two-hour season finale of “The Batchelorette.” Though the couple seemed happy enough, viewers can’t help but wonder: will it last?
ABC didn’t keep us in suspense for long.
Thursday night the network aired a supplement to the “Batchelor/Batchelorette” shows called “The Batchler: Aaron and Helene Tell All.” Included was the promise of an interview with Trista and Ryan.
But before they got to that, we got Helene crying for pity and Aaron defending himself.
Aaron, last year’s batchelor, choses Helene and things looked great as they exited engaged.
Now, they can’t even be interviewed together.
Needless to say, they’re not engaged anymore. Helene’s ring is now “an unconditional gift” from Aaron.
Helens was asked when she suspected things were not right between she and Aaron.
Helene’s response: “We were at a bar and I was trying to get his attention to figure out waht he wanted to drink and I couldn’t get his attention because he was too busy eyeing this other girl.”
Um, okay.
After that incident, Aaron tells her he doesn’t have feelings for her anymore.
Apparently she’s still in shock because she immediately commenced blubbering.
Okay, I’ll admit that was a little insensitive of Aaron. But he had to tell her sometime. There’s no point in continuing a dead relationship.
Helen’s interview concluded with the heart-wrenching (or not) question, “Do you still have feelings for Aaron?”
Helene got chocked up again and conceded that of course she still has feelings for him. She can’t just turn her feelings on and off like that and doesn’t understand how he can.
Here’s a hanky, now leave my sight.
Aaron just watched clips of Helene’s comments and responded. He said her accusations were nothing new and that she blew things out of proportion.
Though a few details were shared, I’m inclined to believe Aaron. Women usually do blow things out of proportion.
However, not everyone has bad luck with relationships.
Trista chose Ryan as her mate three months ago and they’re still headed toward the altar. The two were radiant in the remaining minutes of the show, arguing over who was luckier to have found whom.
Then ABC brought out Charlie, Trista’s final rejected suitor, and luckily there were no punches thrown. Charlie wished them luck and admitted that since it couldn’t be him, he’s glad it was Ryan.
How sweet.
