Today a new sun rises for me; everything lives, everything is animated, everything seems to speak to me of my passion, everything invites me to cherish it.

“I’m busy, busy, shockingly busy.  You’ve no idea what I have to do!  Busy, busy, frightfully busy.  Much, much too busy for you.”  – as sung by Veggie Tales

I’ve been busy.  Busy working, replacing stuff from when my car was broken into and my purse stolen (all while the car was parked in my garage at my home), busy with church (Fall Retreat with my kids was awesome!), and busy preparing for my trip!

And now there are fires everywhere.  Things are eerie, glowing with a light that is too surreal for this world.  When the weather is like this, it always reminds me of Ray Bradbury’s Farenheit 451.  Fire season is what I picture as the setting for that book.

Things I’ve learned from working the Ellen show at work (and by working, I mean helping with the audience seating and then doing crowd control in the riff-raff room during the show):

  • The Riff-Raff room at the Ellen show is its own special version of the tundra.  Seriously, it’s freezing in there.  If you ever get a chance to come be a part of the audience, first of all – tell me!  And secondly, dress warm!
  • Traps, er, I mean, “temporary holding devices” do not always work.  See: Ellen’s trap for George Clooney that failed to catch George Clooney when he stole the bait but managed to catch George Lopez instead.
  • Dancing every day is a very good idea.  It gets the blood moving and the spirits start soaring.
  • The electric slide is applicable to every kind of song.  Try it!  It works for everything!  No more awkwardness because you don’t know how to dance to Kayne West, Fallout Boy, Stevie Wonder or Cher – just do the electric slide!  (Special thanks to Daniel Ferguson for that one.)
  • Pedestrians are generally dumb and take red lights for granted.
  • Scaring people is funny.  Watch this one here, especially about a minute into it.

That’s all I got for now.  How are y’all doing?  Think it’s too early for me to decorate for Christmas?  My argument is it’s NOT too early for me to decorate, especially as I’ll be gone for 10 days in December.  I need my Christmas fix now!
