Today a new sun rises for me; everything lives, everything is animated, everything seems to speak to me of my passion, everything invites me to cherish it.

- Anne de Lenclos

It’s official.

Chuck will never be a mother.  Well, unless an angel comes and visits her.  Then, I suppose, she could be a mother.  But that’s a bit unlikely.

Chuck got fixed yesterday.  I have never been so anxious in my life.  I was literally on pins and needles until I got the call from my vet, telling me surgery went fine and that Chuck was doing great.  If I’m this nervous with a cat, how am I going to be with flesh-and-blood children?!?

She was quite groggy when I brought her home, and she could barely walk.  When she did walk, she walked like a cowboy who’d been riding his hoss all day.  It was actually kinda funny to see her stumbling around until she fell asleep again.

And the advancement of veterinary science amazes me.  Not only are they now using absorbable stitches, but now they stitch from the inside out, so the cat doesn’t even need to wear the infamous “Cone.”

So there will be no silly pictures of my cat glaring at me from the depths of “The Cone.”  Sorry to disappoint.  And I won’t put pictures of her stitches up, because there are no visible stitches.  Really, she looks quite the same except a little bald on her tummy.

Funny, Chuck has gray and white skin.

  1. I always hated that part of having a pet. We were really glad that Tonks came pre-fixed (or having had her bits taken, as my husband says). It’s nice both because I don’t have that overwhelming worry for something covered in fur, and that she was so young when they did it she certainly doesn’t remember it now. :) Hope Chuck’s recovery is quick!

  2. Yeah, I remember finding it funny when we picked Dakota up from her little trip to ABC (Animal Birth Control) that her skin is colored much like the fur that grows from it.

I hope Chuck forgives you and is back to romping around your apartment again soon.

  3. Bummer, cats always look so miffed when you put that silly cone on them – makes the BEST pics!!!
