I finally feel like Chuck has found its groove.
Tonight’s episode of Chuck was really really good, and I’m not just saying that. It had more gravitas than usual, and it strengthened bonds between characters. Maybe this whole big sister/little brother thing just really hits home for me, but I LOVE when Chuck and Ellie have scenes together. Even when they’re just talking about each other, the chemistry is really there. I totally buy that Chuck and Ellie are brother and sister.
And there were the usual killer one-liners from Maj. John Casey. The scene with him and Harry Tang… just too funny.
Oh! And out of left field comes Kevin Wiesman, playing a bad guy (a bad former gymnast, as it turns out). I was soooo confused for a while, because the last two times I’d seen Kevin on screen, he was playing good guys (Marshall in Alias and Steve in Moonlight). For about half the episode, I kept thinking that Kevin was actually an agent that Sarah and Casey didn’t know about. I knew I’d seen him recently, and thought it was on Chuck, but then realized… no, different blonde, he was on Moonlight. Once I got that straightened out, I was able to just enjoy his goofy-yet-badassed turn on Chuck.
And even though Morgan wasn’t in tonight’s episode a lot, I am kind of okay with it. Because lately, whenever Morgan’s been around, Chuck hasn’t. And let’s face it: what makes Morgan so endearing (tolerable?) is his interactions with Chuck.
Tonight’s episode was great, and I can’t wait to see next week’s. And I hope the writers (when they come back from the picket lines) continue to showcase Ellie and Captain Awesome (does he have a real name?), Ellie and Chuck, and Chuck and Morgan.
Really, just show me the love.
I was totally thinking the same thing last night — it was a fantastic episode, and it felt like the show is finding its stride.
Hooray for Marshall!
(And I heard Chuck say Awesome’s name last night — but I forgot what it was. Think it started with a D.)

It was Darren, I think.
And I think you’re right – it did hit a stride last night. Loved seeing Marshall again, but I couldn’t buy him as a villain. He just didn’t look the part. Still, the whole poison thing was pretty awesome.
And I’m with you on the big sis/lil bro thing.

I agree that Chuck just keeps getting better and better. Along with this week’s episode, I also really liked last week’s that took place at “Stanford”. I liked finding out about Bryce and all. My friend Liz and I now have our own Chuckfest, alternating watching between her house and mine. So thanks, dear niece of mine, for insisting that I watch…:-)
