The morning started pretty rough. I woke up feeling pretty miserable (no energy, sore throat, achy head, etc) but somehow managed to drag myself to work.
Once there, I got a second (first?) wind. It was a co-worker’s birthday, so there were cupcakes, cookies and cake in the break room for consumption (even though it was barely 9:00 a.m.). So I indulged a bit, with the rationalization that the sugar rush would help get me going, and got ready for my first tour.
The group was great. It was just two different families, but they’d come together, as they’re all related. So I was the only odd-man-out, but it only took one lame joke to loosen them up and from then on out, it was like hanging with my friends.
During my lunch break, I finished my application for a regular, non-seasonal position in the VIP Tours dept (aka exactly what I’m doing now, only job security for at least a year – yay!). I then hoofed it all the way across the lot to turn in the application with the HR department. I don’t know when interviews will start, but I imagine they’ll start soon, as summer is almost over and half of the tour department has left already to go back to school.
On the way back from the HR department, I saw and chatted with the cast from a new show coming out this fall called The Big Bang Theory. That was pretty cool, but I couldn’t stick around or else I’d be late for my second tour. (Their first live audience filming session will be this Tuesday, and I think I’m gonna go!)
My second tour was another good group (I have a knack for avoiding the big trouble ones), but by this time I was feeling just really crappy. I finished the tour (don’t worry, they still got a fabulous tour and had a great time), and thankfully was singled out of my third tour, which means I got to go home early.
I took a nice long nap (does three hours sound good?), then took my friend Nick to the airport.
When I got back from the airport, my third (second?) wind hit and I cleaned my room. I tell ya, that’s a good feeling.
So now I’m just going to go make peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies (recipe courtesy of Anna Rossitto) and wait for my cousin Aileen to come home from her rehearsal. Yay!
Good thing I have all weekend to get over this weird cold thing.
