All In A Day’s Work

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

I get off the elevator yesterday morning, around 9:20 a.m. and I was no longer in Burbank.
Nope, I’d walked right into a scene for the hit television show The Closer, which stars the amazing and lovely Kyra Sedgwick.  (She’s married to Kevin Bacon, by the way, and has been since 1988!)
They were using our beautiful [...]

Movie Review: Hairspray – Amendment

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

Okay, so if you read the verbose comment left by my mother on the previous post, you’ll see that she brings up a valid question.
I mentioned how I disliked John Travolta in the movie, but failed to mention why.  So here it is.
First of all, his costume.  It’s ill-fitting and bulky, which limits his physical [...]

Movie Review: Hairspray

Sunday, July 29th, 2007

A month ago, I’d barely heard of the musical Hairspray, much less knew anything about its plot or music. I’d heard the reports that “they” were making it into a movie and that John Travolta would be playing Edna Turnblad and Disney Channel “star” Zac Efron would be playing the teen heartthrob. But [...]

Songs of Summer

Friday, July 20th, 2007

I know summer’s half over, but I figure better late than never!
Here is a list of songs I compiled that would make a great soundtrack for a road trip, outdoor tasks, a backyard bbq, anything that is going to be a celebration of sun and summer.
This list can be listened to in order or at [...]

Silence Is Golden

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

Okay, so sorry I haven’t posted in a while.  I finally got to move into my new and permanent place (wahoo!) but now we’re just waiting for our internet hookup.
So basically, the only time I have to use the internet is random breaks at work, thus the lack of posting.
BUT… we have an appointment to [...]

I went and saw the fifth HP movie today, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
I was going to go last night to the 12:01 a.m. showing, but ended up going today at the 3:00 p.m. showing. (Yes, I was supposed to be at work at that time, but they sent a bunch [...]

Movie Review: Transformers

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

So sad. I had such hopes for this movie. And not even high hopes, just hopes of being entertained.
I saw Transformers tonight. Wasn’t expecting anything spectacular or breathtaking, but I was expecting to be at least entertained.
I guess I should have read the reviews a little closer.
But I’m torn.
Because the first half [...]

My Day So Far

Monday, July 9th, 2007

Well, my first tour this morning was cancelled because the guests didn’t show up.
So what did I do instead to kill 2hrs?
Cleaned the Batmobile.
Yup, that’s right, I cleaned George Clooney’s Batmobile.

TGIF

Friday, July 6th, 2007

Thank goodness it’s Friday.
That’s about all I can manage right now.  It’s been a long week, but a really good week.
This weekend I’ll be hanging out with my cousins who live in town, Nate and Sara, and my other cousin’s little kid Sydney.  We’re going to the beach tomorrow, and we might even do a [...]

Workin’ On The 4th

Wednesday, July 4th, 2007

Yup, I had to work all day today.
I reported for duty at 7:40 a.m. and took the first and only 8:20 a.m. tour group out.  There were only seven of them, and because everyone else on the lot had the day off, we had the run of the place.
And even at 9:00 a.m. it was [...]

Just When I Needed It

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2007

This is probably the worst way to exploit a kid, but it’s just too funny.
I belly-laughed out loud when I saw this and I really needed it.
Watch it. Be entertained.
The Landlord.

A Good Day

Monday, July 2nd, 2007

Last Friday, my training group was informed that we would be evaluated this week on Tuesday and Thursday.
Evaluation means we would be giving sections of the tour (assigned at random) for a group of 12 executives and department heads from Warner Brothers. Based on that evaluation, we would either be passed and move on [...]

Ocean’s 13

Sunday, July 1st, 2007

I saw Ocean’s 13 this week.  It was fun.  The boys looked good, the action was fun, and it wasn’t bogged down with superfluous plot points.
Not a whole lot to say about this movie except that it wasn’t as strong as the 2001 version of Ocean’s 11, not as weak as Ocean’s 12, but it [...]

Citizens of Humanity

Sunday, July 1st, 2007

There’s a song in the movie Rent that moves me to tears every single time I hear it. It might be in the musical, too, but I wouldn’t know because I’ve only seen the movie.
The song is called “Will I” and is sung in a scene where two of the main characters are at [...]
