Today a new sun rises for me; everything lives, everything is animated, everything seems to speak to me of my passion, everything invites me to cherish it.

- Anne de Lenclos

My second and third days have been pretty much like my first day. Meetings in the mornings with department staff, q & a sessions with executives at WB Studios, and then ride-along tours.

Yesterday we walked all around the back lots (where exterior or outside scenes are filmed in front of facades or false fronts) and saw the lawn areas where Ross plays rugby to impress Emily and where Phoebe and Rachel do their goofy running in Central Park (both scenes are from the television show Friends) and we also saw many sets in Stars Hollow from Gilmore Girls – sets like Luke’s Diner, Miss Patty’s Dance Studio, Suki’s house, Lorelai’s house, and the gazebo in town square. It was so much fun!

We also got to drive through a set that is being “dressed” (meaning it’s being decorated and prepped with props and sets and lighting stuff) for filming of a new show that will start this fall. The name of the show is called True Blood and stars Anna Paquin. They’ve actually already started filming, though only at night. I guess vampire shows are better when filmed at night. :-)

I am still a bit overwhelmed by all the information I’m getting, but it’s already starting to fall into place and each time we go out on the lot for a tour, I recognize more things and feel confident that I could give a pretty decent tour of the back lots.

But don’t come and take a tour from me yet, because we haven’t been trained on driving the golf carts and the front lots (where all the interior and inside scenes are filmed). Come and visit me in August. I’ll be pro by then, and most of the shows will be filming again on the lot.

Below are some pictures I took today.

Tenement St This is the alley where Mary Jane and Spider-Man share their upside-down kiss in the first Spider-Man movie. It is also where the title number from the movie Rent is filmed.

True Blood This is one of the main sets from the new television show True Blood. It’s filmed on a section of the lot called The Jungle.

  1. Thanks for keeping us updated. I didn’t know you’d be allowed to post pictures. Did you kinda want someone to kiss you upside down in that alley?
