Today a new sun rises for me; everything lives, everything is animated, everything seems to speak to me of my passion, everything invites me to cherish it.

Okay, okay, I know it’s been a few weeks and I know you’ve all heard who won and who said what, so I’m just gonna note a few of my thoughts about the whole event.

1. Ellen, much as I love her, was just too nice. And being too nice makes for not very funny. I did like when she just happened to have a script when she “ran into” Martin Scorsese. That was fun.

2. I’m THRILLED that The Departed won the Oscars that it did. I really loved that movie a lot and felt that Leo should’ve been nominated for best actor for The Departed (but instead of for Blood Diamond? I can’t really judge that because I haven’t seen Blood Diamond). And sooo cool for Scorsese to finally win.

3. Wasn’t expecting Alan Arkin to win, but thought he deserved it. Seriously, his exit from the film was such a shock to me and I really did miss his character for the rest of the film.

4. Wanted Kate Winslet to win (have wanted her to win for a while, especially for Finding Neverland), but wasn’t surprised to see Helen Mirren win the Oscar. Wasn’t surprised about Jennifer Hudson winning, either (I agree with Arkin about why his co-star Abigail Breslin shouldn’t have won).

Okay, that’s all I can remember as standing out.  What’d you guys think of the show?
